Baddest show I ever attended. People outside rushed the doors because there were no tickets to buy. No scalpers. I've been to the Roseland for more than 50 shows. People were diving head first off the balcony. Not once or twice, like more than 20. Even three at the same time once. I threw Some a bag of 30 joints. 10 Gonga skunk, 10 Alaskan Thunderfuck, and 10 Chem Dog, a sativa-indica crossover mix strain. I remember thrashing to the two really good songs Trouble had on their self titled album & nobody else seemed to know who they were. I remember Phil nodding his head & pointing at me with a face of pure entertainment watching me from the side of the stage during Trouble's set. Front row, 1st section, right side balcony with my Sister & my best friend, her husband, Greg (RIP brother-I miss you a ton), on my left and my cousins gf Mindy (then his wife later) and my cousin Dave on the right. I remember Phil lighting up a few of those joints & breaking them in half handing them to the people at the front of the stage & all 4 band members smoking on a joint. The Roseland changed how people came into the venue after that. No more from the outside front doors w/o a scanner. I remember they played most of Vulgar first, then most of Cowboys, then back to finish Vulgar, and then back to finish Cowboys through 4 encores. The last time they came out Phil said "Portland, we love ya, and we thank you. But there aren't anymore songs left for us to play. You've heard them all. So we'll play one more song for ya all but then ya gotta go. The place has a time to be done & we gotta go. So here it is for a 2nd time tonight man - Cowboys From Hell!" When the song was done they said goodnight & were gone & the lights came on in full. I remember sitting in the chair with ringing ears & smiling thurough enjoyment. When I finally got up to leave & turned around, I was stunned to see the dudes in my section behind me had pulled the chairs up out of the floor & piled them up! About 6-8 of them! Those chairs were solidly built & firmly attached with steel bolts through that floor. I remember kicking the door open leaving & screaming "fucking hostile!" & A whole bunch of the crowd gathering to my left screamed out & threw their hands up & started getting going again & When I put my head down, because it was facing the sky, and looked forward there were a line of Portland cops with night sticks stepping off the curb & they all just stopped mid step & then started back stepping back up into the curb and they headed around the block by going up to Burnside & taking a right & just disappearing unit the night trying to bust people for vandalism or smoking weed or minors under the influence.
