Peter Frampton DID NOT perform at the CNE Grandstand in Toronto Ontario on July 31, 1976.
This particular concert is famous among Toronto rock historians because it almost did not happen. The show was originally scheduled for July 31, 1976, but due to severe weather it was rained out at the very last minute after fans had already arrived. Because it was a last-minute cancellation, a well-known makeup show was rescheduled and successfully played ten days later, August 10, 1976, at the CNE Grandstand with concert goers using their original July 31 tickets.
To make it up to the 18,450 fans who waited ten days for the rescheduled date, Frampton extended his headlining performance significantly. He famously stretched out his hit “Do You Feel Like We Do” to well over 20 minutes. He then gave a three-song encore lasting an extra half-hour.
Spirit and the French-Canadian rocker Michel Pagliaro returned for the makeup show as supporting acts.
