Some years back a former Air Force sergeant got his hands on a JATO (Jet Assisted Take Off) Unit. In the vast expanse of the Arizona desert, the man decided to attach the JATO unit to his 67 Chevy Impala in hopes of breaking the ground vehicle speed record. Upon reaching speeds upwards of 300mph, he vainly applied the breaks which subsequently melted and blew out all the tires. The Chevy then became airborne for approximately 1.3 miles before colliding into the face of cliff, leaving a blackened three foot deep crater.
