Chris originated in the Bristol area, but spent his childhood and adolescence in Reading. He studied music at Bangor University under William Matthias and gained a Bachelor of Music degree. Why Bangor? He was attracted by the lakes and mountains, and also by the course which was very hands-on practical. He met his future wife, Jill while studying there.
