Drednex was one of the bigger punk bands on the scene in Cedar Falls, Iowa, USA (1984-1988). They evolved out of a progression of bands that began with The Beveragemen and transformed into The Acoustic Hiatus and Cul-de-Sac of Fear. When the Drednex formed, the early reggae/dub influence was dropped in favor of a more straight-ahead sound influenced by punk. Their songs were often political and anti-militaristic yet could also humorous and ironic.
