Jerrald King Goldsmith (February 10, 1929 Los Angeles, CA, USA, – July 21, 2004 Beverly Hills, CA, USA) was an American composer, conductor, and orchestrator known for his work in film and television scoring over nearly five decades, from 1954 to 2003. He composed music for more than 200 productions and was recognised as one of the most innovative and influential figures in film music. Goldsmith received eighteen Academy Award nominations, winning in 1977 for his score for "The Omen".
