KESSWA (born Kesiena Wanogho) is a Detroit-based alternative/experimental singer-songwriter. Originally starting out a DJ and producer, KESSWA was dissatisfied with her music not having vocals, and decided to become a singer; taking vocal lessons to improve her craft and develop her sound. Kesswa started attending events around Detroit, meeting other artists in the area. One of those artists was the Mexico-based producer Askanse, who was spending time in the city.
