End of April 1986... the town of Pripyat, Ukrainean Soviet Republic: preparations for another official mass celebration of May 1st are in full swing. However, April 26th starts with a disaster - the reactor of the 5 km distant Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant explodes. No one is told anything, the authorities remain quiet. Masses of people are being exposed to extremely high radiation. Three days later a sudden forced evacuation begins. Thousands of people are taken away from their homes, being told that it's only going to be for a couple of days.
