In april 2004 ziet Scrum het levenslicht. Een live-EP wordt datzelfde jaar nog uitgebracht. Na vele festivaloptredens presenteert de band eind 2006 haar debuutalbum Pro Libertate waaruit in 2007 een top-100 notering van het nummer Drunk Again voortkomt. In 2008 reizen de muzikanten naar Schotland, wat de basis zal worden voor de akoestische carrière van de band. In datzelfde jaar verschijnt een akoestische live-EP van een optreden in het voorprogramma van The Dubliners.
