Sharon Gilchrist as an American musician, singer, composer, and mandolin instructor, currently based in Berkeley, California. Growing up in the Dallas, Texas, area, Sharon started playing mandolin at the age of eight, and from nine to sixteen played in a bluegrass band with the young Martie and Emily Erwin, who would go on under their married names to form the renowned Dixie Chicks.
