The Jimi Hendrix Experience was a short-lived, yet highly influential rock band which featured lead singer and guitarist Jimi Hendrix alongside bassist Noel Redding and drummer Mitch Mitchell. The group formed in early 1966 after Chas Chandler of The Animals brought Hendrix to London, but the group did not perform its first gig until October 13, 1966. The band's final gig took place less than three years later on June 29, 1969. During that time, the group released some of the music influential rock music in history, including the albums ("Are You Experienced", "Axis: Bold as Love", and "Electric Ladyland" and singles "Hey Joe", "Purple Haze", "All Along the Watchtower", Foxy Lady", and "Let Me Light Your Fire".
