Umber Sleeping started as a recording project between Peter Tietjen and Chris Jones in 2001. Finally by early 2003 they began playing live around Tacoma and Seattle as a two piece with Chris playing key bass with his left hand and peter singing from the drums. The sound of Umber Sleeping is a hybrid of New Wave, 70's Fusion, 60's and 70's Sci-Fi soundtracks, psychedelic and progressive rock. thier music is surreal at times, energetic, and always melodic.
