 paulbainjr Fifty years ago today, I was at the Brown County Veterans Memorial Arena in Green Bay with my buddy Mike, watching Firefall open for The Doobie Brothers. It was a different time. We had paper tickets, no cell phones, no social media, and people were there to soak up every note.  Mr Nice Guy History My 20th birthday. I spent 2 hours pushing my way up to the front of the barricade for the end of Live's set and the Offspring headline act. 130000 people pushing forward pinned me against the edge of the barricade and for a moment I could not breathe. It was useless to try against such overwhelming forward momentum. I started to think "This is the end... I really messed up. What was I thinking". A few seconds later one of the security staff noticed the danger I was in and helped pull me over the barricade to safety and to the secioned off area to the left of the stage for the conclusion of Offspring and the festival itself. In the last available video of the event, the final song from Live, you can briefly see me in the front about about 3 bodies back from the front barricade dead center stage.  IanMcC613 Derek Trucks played with the Allman Brothers and filled in on some of the Dickey Betts leads. Warren Hayes opened I don’t remember another earlier opening. Wikipedia says the Derek Trucks band was formed the year after this show. I would love to claim credit on being apart of the ground floor with DT and seeing his band go. But I don’t remember it.
