 Jason Worthley [show #142] Been awhile since I've been to this venue. I was disappointed having to sit in the seats but I did get the tix for $25 each from Live Nation's all in deal. From Ashes to New was ok, but not really my thing. We were away from our seats and getting some food. Fit for a King was good, heavy. Motionless was really good. I really like them as a band. In This Moment for some odd reason only played 5 songs so that was disappointing. I don't know how they were running over. I didn't feel like we lost time anywhere. But the theatrics and presence were great. Above Snakes were playing on the way out at some small patch probably for local bands. They had potential. The band needs to work on their vocals though.  Jason Worthley [show #141]What an amazing show this was. Beginning with Barry Goudreau of the band, Boston. They were real good. Definitely played some old Boston tunes we recognized. We were up in the Samuel Addams VIP section for them so we could get some food and drinks. Then we went to our floor seats for Hollywood Vampires. Alice Cooper always has such a good stage presence and attitude. I think I was most excited to see Joe Perry of Aerosmith do his thing. He even sang a song. At one point he played Jeff Beck's guitar in his honor. And of course, the legend himself, Mr. Johnny Depp. He sang "People Who Died" by Jimmy Carroll, and "Heroes" by David Bowie. Such a great show!  Jason Worthley [show #140] Well, I finally get to scratch a long time favorite of my list. It's a shame I never got to see Faster Pussycat during the hay day but at least I saw them. I still really enjoyed the show. I just wish it was a longer set. It was done by 9:30. The Jason Charles band sounded like a southern rock band and even did a song for True Blood. I really liked them as well. First time at Tupelo and the only con was the early closing, but the sound was great and the food was even better. But the drinks could stand to be a bit stronger.  Jason Worthley [show #139] Been far too long out of the scene since covid but this was much deserved. Trawl is a local band and they were real good. I'll be purchasing their music soon. This was my first time seeing Exodus and they rocked the shit and sounded great. BLS always rocks and I really enjoy seeing the love and respect Zakk gives to his band. Even had a lead battle with his guitarist, which was amazing. And he always remembers to show Dime love. And Anthrax, so amazing to see a thrash band gain this kind of following after 40+ years.  Jason Worthley [show #137] It was great to see the original lineup from Wisconsin Death Trip on the stage again. Minus Wayne, of course, as he sadly passed away some years ago. Rumors were that Edsel from Dope played double duty during the tour, donning an evil Wayne mask. I think Wayne would have been proud. They were great. Been almost 10 yrs since a Static X show, probably be the last. First time seeing Devildriver. They were (yes, I'm going to say it) too loud. It was difficult to even hear them. But it was cool that they played Loco, of Coal Chamber fame, and surprising to see how many people knew it. Dope played a great set. Wednesday 13, too. They were a Halloween-type band. Like Rob Zombie and Marilyn Manson. I liked them. Raven Black seemed good, but I only got to catch 1 song. I met up with Paul and Charity Catruch from work though. It was so hot there. 90 degrees outside, and no ventilation inside the place. I don't think I'll go to another summer show at Wally's. I almost left early just to keep from passing out.  Jason Worthley [show #136] Rob Zombie kicked ass as usual. John 5 also played a long solo, finishing with his mouth-The Star Spangled Banner. Manson came out to sing a duo of Helter Skelter, by The Beatles. We were so close to the front that we could almost touch Rob when he stood on the guard rail. Manson was also great. I expected him to be kind of a dick, but he was really cool and having a good time. At one point, shot a wad of real $100 bills into the crowd. I didn't get any. I didn't think I'd care for P.O.D, but they were real good, amping up the crowd and getting the mosh pits going along with endless waves of crowd surfers. We Came As Romans were good-sadly, Kyle Pavone, the lead singer, died of an accidental drug overdose a month later on August 25-RIP. The other bands were good, but forgettable.  Jason Worthley [show #135] The main thing that ticked me off about the venue is that they had a gated section for 21+, which is usually fine, only here, on the 2 second stages, they actually gated off 1 of the stages, so because I was with my nephew, we couldn't even go up close to the stage for the bands we wanted to see over there. Idiotic! Aside from that, Powerman 5000 was good, still very much full of energy. They deserve to be on the main stage--I don't know where their fame went. Hollywood Undead was really good, too. Emmure, as well. Kind of a heavy rap type band. On the main stage (we decided to upgrade our tickets from Lawn to Pit for only $20 more, and it at least got us out of the sun most of the time. C.O.C was good, and I spotted Zakk Wylde on the side of the stage watching the show. Trivium and Gojira got the crowd pumped. Trivium are a good live band. BLS was great. Zakk played a long solo with his guitar on his shoulder, behind his head. Came down and played most of it between the center divider, finishing on stage using his mouth. Avenged Sevenfold were supposed to be headlining, but the singer got sick. Prophets of Rage backed out because they were touring with AS. But...Three Days Grace decided to make the trip so that was cool of them, they were cool. Chevelle took AS's place and they've played better shows. It was a little disappointing.  Jason Worthley [show #134] Slayer's final tour and it was phenomenal! I sure will miss them, but they deserve retirement. Never thought I'd cry at a Slayer concert, but when Tom Araya's paced the stage at the end, just taking it all in, and finally his voice cracked as he said goodbye...I couldn't take it. Testament and Anthrax were great of course. Anthrax came out playing the beginning of Cowboys from Hell in honor of newly deceased (may he rest in peace \m/) Vinnie Paul. And they ended their set playing the end of Cowboy's. It was great. Lamb of God was awesome. Napalm Death is not really my type of death metal, but they were good.  Jason Worthley [show #133] Typical for New England, day 3 dropped down to 52 degrees with rain. This time we took refuge in the Arena to stay comfortable and save our energy for the headliner. There we caught a comedy show with Martin Urbano, Max Silvestri, Cameron Esposito (who was heckled for speaking politically instead of doing comedy), and headliner, David Cross (Alvin and the Chipmunks, Year One). It was cool seeing Mike D of Beastie Boys doing some mixing on the big stage. Eminem by far was the highlight with guests like the beautiful Skylar Grey lending her vocals to all female parts (Stan, Monster, etc.) and Royce da 5'9".  Jason Worthley [show #132] 90 degrees on day 2. It was so hot that we took refuge for about an hour in the Arena so we can watch a taping of Natalie Portman's podcast. Basically it was her and 3 others, along with a full hockey arena of liberals making fun of the Trump family and not offering a shred of insight into what should be done to make America better. Aside from that, Queens of the Stone Age and Brockhampton were the big hits today. QotSA were the perfect rock show addition and Brockhampton I was surprised I was so into.  Jason Worthley [show #131] 85 degrees on the first day but the promoters did a great job having plenty of vendors available so we were able to keep hydrated and fed. And with the RFID bracelets, it moved things along perfectly. There were 3 stages in all, 2 on the east side of the complex, 1 on the west. It might have sucked if I knew all the bands but I didn't so it just required a bit more exercise to see the bands we wanted. I was so impressed with this first day. Pussy Riot were a good electronica group with odd songs like Bad Apples. They wore fluorescent ski masks and were very political, which basically means anti-government. Portugal, the Man fit perfectly for this type of show. Paramore put on a great rock show with Hayley Williams still rockin' it. And The Killers absolutely astonished me with a GREAT performance. Exactly what a rock show should be. People singing and dancing along. THOUSANDS of people. And the band even pulled a fan up on stage to play drums for a song. Awesome!  Jason Worthley [show #130] The lead singer of Mammothor reminded me of Eric Christian Olsen, only muscular, but he had some pipes on him and a friendly stage attitude, which I liked although it wasn't my kind of music. Palisades were pretty cool, almost reminded me of All That Remains, but not as heavy. A couple of the guys looked like GQ models. Jonathan's set was great. A lot mellower than Korn but some heavy riffs and vocals throne in. It was awesome to see him play some of the tracks from Queen of the Damned again. Finally! And it's always great to see his smile. How he loves being up there for his fans. And having Korn drummer, Ray Luzier join the tour was a smart move. Ray is AMAZING! Watching him flip his stick and catch it between beats was mesmerizing.  Jason Worthley [show #129] My first concert going by myself and though I almost talked myself out of it, I'm glad I didn't. I finally got to see Ministry and boy did they deliver. From the moment Al Jorgensen belted out the first few lyrics, I knew it was going to rock. To make it even more memorable, the band was truly an all-star lineup, with DJ Swamp of The Crystal Method and Beck, Joey Jordison of Slipknot, Tony Campos and Burton C. Bell (GOD, IT WAS AWESOME TO SEE HIM AGAIN!!) of Fear Factory, it just added to the awesomeness. The show opened with The God Bombs from NY. I kind of felt like they were a heavier version of Orgy without the glam look. I liked them. Had they gone on later, I think the crowd would have been moving. Then Chelsea Wolfe came out in her platform heal boots, with their slow and crunchy riffs underlying her soft, melodic vocals, you couldn't help but just stare and enjoy the show. My first time at Aura (formerly the Asylum) since it opened. It was nice. Small.  Jason Worthley [show #128] Been off the concert kick for some time now but this was a good one to come back to. A surprise invite by an old former classmate took me back to Worcester. I have no complaints over any of the bands, they were all great. Fit for an Autopsy reminded me of Hatebreed. While She Sleeps had a lot of energy and I loved how they put the security to work by asking everyone to crowd surf up to the stage (on that note, security was on point that night. I don't say that often, but these guys were great--and I have seen some assholes in my day). Trivium was obviously a fan favorite due to their New England ties, and we nearly got sucked into the moshpit.  Jason Worthley [show #126] I almost ended up not going to this show but I am glad I did. Death Angel rocked. It was the first time I have seen them, and it is great to see bands I grew into my metal phase with still kicking. They played a very short set though and the sound in the State Theater is not so great so it was hard to hear the singing, but I did recognize "Mistress of Pain." Testament kicked ass too. They all looked great. Their sound was much the same as Death Angel but I picked up on the classics I knew. Chuck Billy had a cordless mike on a two foot post that he kept playing as a guitar. Later there was a green light inside so it kinda looked like a light saber. They played an extra long set for some reason. I think Anthrax was running a bit late. That sucked because we had to work in the morning, and the girls had school and we thought it'd be an early night. Anthrax came on at 10:15 so we did at least get to see 45 min of them, a few classics like "Among the Living", "Caught in a Mosh", and "AntiSocial", and a few newer songs. They sounded great.
