stephenhuerta 05/31/2025: This will be my first time seeing this rendition of Gong since 1979, that’s when I saw Daevid Allen/Gong at the Manifestival Of Progressive Music at The Embassy Concert Hall in DTLA. Gong has gone through many personnel changes in the past years. It’s almost likely I’m seeing them for the first time again. The only Gong album I owned was Continental Circus, and I fell in love with it. I’ve been into progressive rock, space rock and psychedelic rock since the 70’s, so I’m definitely looking forward to this. I have no idea what this Gong has to offer, but I’m ready for it. This is a rare San Diego appearance, so I couldn’t pass it up. As usual, I’ll keep you posted. Gong / Taz Taylor Band Jun 01, 2025

stephenhuerta 05/31/2025: As I write this I’m not sure if I’ll even be able to make this show. As of today, my flight from Tepic, Nayarit to Tijuana is at 8:00pm on June 24, with my flight landing at around 10:15pm. According to The Soda Bar, The Cro-Mags will be hitting the stage around 10:30pm. I’ve inquired, and this is what they’re telling me. My travel agent tells me that, depending on flight demands, my flight could possibly have an earlier departure, so I’m banking on that. So that’s where I stand for this show. I’ve never see the Cro-Mags, Perro has, and he was blown away. I’ve heard and read good things about Cro-Mags, so I’m hoping and ready for that show. I know that I too will be blown away by them. As usual, I’ll keep you posted. Cro-Mags May 31, 2025

stephenhuerta I don't know much about Dogma, I'm not even familia with their music, but I read a lot of good and crazy things about them, so I had to check them out. I was expecting something a little more sinister from these sexy and nasty nuns. As it turns out, it was mostly show. I believe they’re trying to cash in on the Ghost band wagon. I believe with a good manager these girls could do just that. They are excellent musicians, the guitarist can shred as good as all the others, and she proved that this evening. The bass player plays a 5 string bass, and can hold the bottom to a T. Then there’s the singer, OMG this girl can sing. There were multiple times when the band would mellow out and provide the singer a platform and I was impressed. With the right manager, this girl could go places. Then there’s the drummer, that girl is a beast behind the drum kit. The music was very accessible, and it was a good show. Give these girls some time and they will be huge,, they just need a good manager. No opening act, which was nice for a Sunday night. Good show, I’m glad I went. Dogma May 31, 2025
stephenhuerta I’ve known of, and have been listening to LOVE since 1966, when I first heard My Little Red Book on KRLA, Los Angeles. I immediately bought LOVE’S first album, been a huge fan ever since. But I can only regret that I never got to see them live, especially while Arthur Lee was still living. And I’m not sure why, but it is a big regret. So after all these years, I hear that Johnny Echols has revisited LOVE, I’ve been wanting to him and Baby Lemonade for quite a few years now. It’s the closest thing to seeing LOVE, call it a tribute if you will, but it’s still LOVE, and I can appreciate it. So while in Visalia, CA, on personal business, I was able to rent a car and drive out to Morro Bay, where LOVE was playing at The Siren, on Main Street. Small venue, with seats, I loved it. Baby Lemonade and Johnny Echols didn’t disappoint, the band was tight and in excellent form. All the hits, plus numerous deep cuts. Johnny sang the vocals to Sign DC ( yeah I know, it’s called something else), and his guitar solos were incredible, he was hot. The show ended rather early, which was nice for all us older folk. I didn’t see not one college student there, and Cal Poly is just down the road, nothing but older people, including myself, LOL! I am so glad I went, every song was performed to a “T”, Baby Lemonade definitely have their shit together. Thank you Johnny. LOVE with Johnny Echols / Baby Lemonade May 31, 2025
