Marcella Jecha Photos not the greatest, but view was surprisingly good for lawn seats. No direct view of stage, obviously, but the video screen was good and the sound and ambience were perfect! The Coral Reefer Band / The Docksiders Aug 02, 2026
Gary F This gig started in the afternoon and went on until headliners Hawkwind came on when it was dark. The stage was across the other side of a small lake, while the audience stood/sat on a grass slope the other side. As it was so unusual, I do remember seeing Dame Vera Lynn start the show. She sang her classics: 'We'll Meet Again"; 'White Cliffs of Dover'; 'Wish me Luck', & couple of others I don't recall. It was a short set and it was strange to see her there. But as my Nan used to play het records when I was kid, I was ok with it. So were the crowd, who applauded generously. Apart from Hawkwind going on last, I can't remember when the bands came on. I can only remember a few of the acts: One was Kirk Brandon's Spear of Destiny, who had quite a big crowd, waving several big flags. Never a fan - "The Wheel " is only track I remember. Dr and the Medics were a fun act to watch, but only thing in my head is 'Spirit in the Sky" (which I not sure they were playing in 1985?) Comsat Angels was the reason I came to this gig. I thought their first 3 albums were fantastically original - But I was disappointed at this gig as they mostly played their newly written commercial stuff like "Seven Day Weekend". They did do "Independance Day", which is brilliant. Lastly was Hawkwind. Really enjoyed - Pretty sure they did "Silver Machine", with all those synth whooshing noises. Amazingly, when it was dark, some half a dozen bats came out and started flying over the lake and around the speaker stack to the band's right. Pretty cool and a perfect match to go with Hawkwind.....!  Remyfla I was 17 and had just flown in from LA on one of the first 747 flights. My cousin said she was going to the concert and had a ticket for me. It was an AMAZING concert and one at 72 I still remember like it was yesterday! Concert for Bangladesh Aug 02, 2026

Tony Rios What a show!! Very fortunate to see them at The Strand and HOB Hollywood. This was a much more intimate setting though. Just a month before this i was at The Empire Plo Grounds for Pearl Jams iconic performance there. Laying the groundwork for Coachella Festival. With that show fresh in my mind, Cheap Trick blew them away!! I also remember Robin chatting up a young lady outside the restroom. No bodyguard, no security. Just there! I said he, he said hey lol! It was a different time Cheap Trick Aug 02, 2026
Tony Rios I was at this show. My friend Shannon worked for A & M Records at the time. The show was sold out. We walked up to the entrance with her wearing her A & M Records badge/lanyard and told the guy we're here to see Harey Wayne Casey aka KC. We needed him to sign off on some sampling of his music. And just like that we were ushered in with a table up front at the edge of the level before the dance floor. Very Goodfellas at the Copa style lol! Also, a great show!!
